🔥 Fire Prevention Announcement for Business Owners 🔒

Subject: Enhance Emergency Access & Property Protection with a Knox Box

North Whidbey Fire & Rescue encourages all business owners to consider installing a Knox Box® system as part of your fire prevention and emergency response planning. A Knox Box is a secure, tamper-resistant key lockbox mounted on the exterior of your building, designed to provide firefighters with immediate access during emergencies—without the need for forced entry.

Why Install a Knox Box?

🔑 Emergency Access:
Time is critical during an emergency. A Knox Box provides firefighters with quick, secure access to your property, helping to reduce response time when it matters most.

🏚️ Reduced Property Damage:
Avoid costly damage to doors, windows, and locks by eliminating the need for forced entry during fire alarms or emergency calls.

🔐 Enhanced Key Security:
Each box is built with high-security locking mechanisms and is accessible only by your local fire department using a unique, master key or code system.

🏢 Custom Solutions:
Available in multiple sizes and configurations, Knox Boxes are suitable for both commercial and residential properties. They can store keys, access cards, gate openers, or other essential items.

🛠️ Easy Installation:
Boxes can be surface-mounted or recessed and must be installed at an approved height (typically between 5.5 and 7 feet) near a primary entry point.

How It Works:

  1. Purchase & Install
Business owners purchase a Knox Box from https://www.knoxbox.com/ and install it in a location approved by North Whidbey Fire & Rescue.
  2. Secure Your Access Tools
Place building entry keys, gate cards, or other access tools inside the box.
  3. Emergency Use Only
During an emergency, fire personnel will use a department-issued key to open the box, enabling immediate and secure access.
