Yes, there is a risk for outdoor/wildfires here on Whidbey Island. Last year North Whidbey Fire and Rescue responded to 30 outdoor fires (I.E: Natural vegetation, Wildland, Brush and Grass fires).

There are several ways that you can protect your from potential outdoor fires. Several ways that you can protect your home are:

Remove any flammable vegetation within 30 feet around your home

Use non-flammable materials such as concrete, gravel, or brick around your home. These materials will help provide a defensible space to help protect your home.​
